SAMUEL KIEL TRIO
Micheal Murray is an award winning saxophonist based in Amsterdam. The 27 year old saxophonist comes from Donegal, Ireland. He has been referred to as a ‘rising star’ of Irish jazz and since beginning his professional career has performed with international artists such as Jason Rebello, Lucian Gray, and Phil Robson, and has studied with some of the worlds most renowned saxophonists and musicians such as Tommy Smith, Ben Van Gelder, Andy Middleton, Jaleel Shaw and Jasper Blom.
After moving to Amsterdam, he has begun playing with many artists and formations there. He lead’s Micheal Murray’s Colourfield, winners of the Keep an Eye Records 2024, and is set to release his debut album ‘Rounded Nature’ with Zennez Records in 2025. Aside from this he has worked/recorded with Sonic Choir of Love, Perpetual Bike Crash, Chaerin Im, Muxingye Chen, Jasper Blom, Franz Van Chossy, Anja Gottberg, FI:LDS and his solo project MIMU.
Samuel Kiel is a Danish double bassist living in Amsterdam where works as a bandleader, composer and entrepreneur. He is best known for his 8-piece band Sonic Choir of Love, just release their debut album in the spring of 2025. In addition, the band has won a Keep an Eye foundation award. He is the creator of the crossover group ‘Meetings’. With a string quartet and piano trio as a crew, they explore the borderland between new classical music and improvisation.
As a sideman he works with: Jacob Djursaa’s Drømmesyn which in 2025 was nominated for a DMA jazz award for New Jazz Name of the Year, Giedre/Valente Quintet which in the spring of 2024 won 1st prize in the Grachten Festival band competition, and the Korean pianist Minyoung Oh band - Quartet +1: Greetings. Ludvig Søndergaard is an a award winning drummer based in Amsterdam. He grew up in the rural parts of Denmark and made his entrance on the jazz scene with successful jazz punk group BARYL. After moving to Amsterdam the 25 year old joined the groups of Chaerin Im in her Quartet as well as her trio which both have recent releases out. The Chaerin Im trio played on North Sea Jazz Festival in 2025.
He’s also known for his characteristic playing in the Sonic Choir of Love who released their debut album in april 2025
In 2025 he won the Keep an Eye Records 2025 which paved the way for his upcoming debut album with the Ludvig Søndergaard Sekstet set to be released in December 2025.
