Sun August 31
With a warm baritone voice reminiscent of Johnny Hartman and Johnny Mathis, Antwerp jazz vocalist Tim Nevelsteen pays tribute to the intimate elegance of the classic American Songbook. His debut as a performing artist is a loving dive into lesser-known gems from the jazz repertoire — songs such as The Trolley Song, Guess Who I Saw Today, Sermonette and Something Cool — sung with a sincere finesse and sense of nuance.
In a time when jazz often wants to be grand and virtuoso, Tim resolutely opts for subtlety. His performances breathe the atmosphere of a nightclub from the 1950s: romantic, modest and timeless. Think of Sarah Vaughan in her most intimate live sets. Supported by a subtle trio, he brings music that does not scream for attention, but gently draws you into the room.
